Discover the expressive and colourful work of Emily Little, a New Zealand-born visual artist whose semi-abstract paintings explore colour, memory, emotion and the world around us.

Emily studied drawing and painting at Edinburgh College of Art, where she was taught by celebrated Scottish artist Dame Elizabeth Blackadder. A visit to Italy during her studies introduced her to the Mediterranean light and colour that would have a lasting influence on her work. She later moved to Rome and now lives and works in Italy.

Colour is at the heart of Emily’s distinctive style. Working with water-based paints and collage, she hand-paints papers before tearing and layering them into her compositions, combining them with translucent washes of colour to create depth, texture and movement.

Inspired by memories, travel and both natural and urban landscapes, Emily’s paintings are intended to be experienced emotionally rather than simply interpreted. Her work has been exhibited internationally across the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Italy and Australia.
