Description
Interlude by Jill McIntosh lives up to its title through balance and pause. The foreground is formed from pale sand with only the lightest interruptions, while the middle distance holds clear blue water and a low stretch of land beneath a sky crossed by soft movement. Interlude feels uncluttered and measured, offering a moment of stillness between more dramatic changes in tide and weather. That sense of pause is what gives the piece its charm.
Jill McIntosh’s paintings are inspired by the West Coast and by the moods created where sea, shore and weather meet, and Interlude approaches those themes with real sensitivity. The acrylic surface remains smooth and airy in places, yet there is enough variation in the water and horizon to stop the image from becoming bland. Rather than using spectacle, McIntosh lets colour and proportion carry the scene. Interlude is therefore a very easy piece to live with, while still feeling purposeful and artist-led.
Interlude would sit naturally in bedrooms, guest rooms, bathrooms or any room where you want a coastal print that brings calm without becoming decorative cliche. Framing Interlude through First 4 Frames allows you to match the work to your interior, whether you prefer a crisp neutral frame or something that draws out the cooler turquoise tones. Float glass is fitted as standard.
